In Kurki ecovillage, everyday choices are made for a sustainable future. New houses are built and old ones are renovated in an ecological way. The village is home to people of all ages, different kinds of people and their dreams. Together with others, we want to enliven the countryside and promote its diversity.
The village centre is a renovated mangle building (in Finnish Mankelitalo), where people meet, eat, do activities and organise events.
The village's daily life is marked by annual festivities, which include a variety of activities and work bees. We either work together on a single project or in smaller groups around the village. What is certain is the joy of a job well done!
Gathering together, growing sustainable food gardens according to permaculture principles, cooking with freshly picked seasonal ingredients, respecting nature and its bounty, supporting local producers and creating a healthy food web for our community are at the heart of strengthening our positive impact on the world.
